WORLD’S TOP SCIENTISTS COMING TO CANADA
First time in 30 years that prestigious AAAS meeting held outside the U.S.

January 16, 2012 (Vancouver, BC) – The scientists are coming to Vancouver—eight thousand of the best minds in the world—representing more than 60 countries.  The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific organization and publisher of Science, is bringing its prestigious annual meeting north of the border for the first time in 30 years.

Canada’s best and brightest researchers will be taking a central role in the conference, showing the world how Canada is finding solutions to global challenges through partnerships, talent, and innovation.

As the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory has proven, science is in—and bigger than ever! The organizers have even made sure that Vancouver families will be able to join in the fun with cool family events showcasing our Canadian science and researchers.

Federal Member of Parliament Wai Young (Vancouver South) and a representative from the BC government will also be on-hand to discuss an exciting announcement for BC students.
